Everything here is built around one belief: children grow best in a real home, not a facility. We give them what no care plan can mandate: adults who stay, a garden to tend, hills to walk, and a childhood worth remembering.
We will never grow big, because big is not what heals. Success here is quiet: children who leave us able to trust, to learn and to belong.

A house that was always meant to be a home.
Our Buxton home is a detached period property in the Derbyshire countryside: stone walls, open fires, and the kind of quiet that lets a child finally hear themselves think. Three bedrooms. One table everyone eats around. Books on the shelves, art drying on the dresser, and a garden that runs out into green hills.
Nothing about it feels institutional, because nothing about it is. It is a home first and a care setting second, and in our experience that order matters more than anything.
Three beds, by design
A small home means no child is ever a number. Every plan, every meal, every bedtime is personal.
A real front door
Detached, private and rural, with the Peak District on the doorstep and Buxton’s schools, shops and parks close by.
Hills & open air
Horse riding at the local stables, hill walks and countryside pastimes give every week its shape and every day a reason to get outside.
Rooms that belong to them
Every child arrives to a bedroom that is theirs, and is encouraged to make it unmistakably so.

Healing rarely happens in a chair. It happens in a life.
Therapy at RITE DIRECTIONS is not an appointment. It is the texture of the whole day: mucking out, saddling up, painting at the kitchen table, walking the hills, cooking Sunday lunch. Alongside the clinical and therapeutic support woven into every child’s care plan, the home itself does quiet work: routine, relationship, fresh air, and the steady presence of adults who are not going anywhere.

Walking, fishing, gardening, foraging: the Peak District as a second therapist.

The kind of adults children remember.
Our team is small, long serving and here on purpose. Our Registered Manager lives and breathes this home and the children in it; our Responsible Individual provides experienced, hands on oversight. Around them is a dedicated staff team who have stayed, because children who have been left before need adults who don’t leave.
We recruit slowly and carefully, train relentlessly, and hold one simple standard: would this be good enough for our own children? Nothing less is good enough for someone else’s.

In July 2026, Ofsted inspected our Buxton home without warning, and rated it Good. An unannounced inspection sees a home exactly as it is on an ordinary day. We are proud of what it saw: a calm, nurturing, well led home where children are safe, known, and making progress.

Our Buxton home offers therapeutic residential care for children with emotional and behavioural needs, in a setting that consistently turns crisis into stability. Small by design, clinically informed, and led by people with 18 years of sector experience, we take difficult referrals seriously, and personally.

You know your child. We’d like to meet them.
Handing your child’s care to someone else is one of the hardest things a family can do. We won’t pretend otherwise. What we can tell you is what our home feels like: small, calm and warm, with busy hands and full plates, and adults who take the time to learn who your child is, not just what’s in their file. You will be kept close, listened to, and told the truth.
